Arrival in Cambodia!

After 19 hours in two different planes, we have arrived in Siem Reap, Cambodia.  It is 12:18 AM here on Thursday. Cambodia is 11 hours ahead. The first plane ride was 14 hours, and the second was only 5.  At the airport, there was a driver waiting to take us to our hotel.  We rode in a Tut Tut - it was an open air wagon pulled by a motocycle.  Because it was dark when we arrived in Cambodia, I have no pictures from here yet; however, I took an awesome picture of Northern Siberia as our plane flew over Russia.  That picture should be attached.  :) Don't forget to post questions and comments!

  5. Hey gang!! It was great skyping into the 7th period as well. I'm glad it worked out! I plan on skyping into all of the classes at some point. I do not understand Khmer at all. We have translators to help us. Most places accept american dollars as well as Cambodia riels. The conversion is 4000 riels for 1 dollar. I got to meet your pen pals today. I'll post more about that in a little bit!

It seems like Cambodia is a lot of fun! I think it would be really fun to have a ride in a Tut Tut, I can't wait to Skype with you when we have a chance!

  9. Thanks for you posts! The weather was very hot today! We did a lot of temple tours, so we were walking in the jungle. At night it got a little cooler, but overall - very warm here!

There is a hotel near mine that has a pool which many people pay to just swim at. Some members of my group are planning on going Sunday because they also have a 10/day all you can eat buffet and access to the pool. I don't think I will go though - I want to visit some more of the temples!

Most Cambodians ride either a regular 2 wheel bike or a motorbike (a little smaller than our motorcycles). There are only a handful of cars. The tuk tuk's are usually only used by Tourists.
